Introduction

At 8billionideas, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all participants in our holiday camps. Our behaviour policy outlines the expectations for both campers and staff, as well as procedures for managing behaviour to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.

Purpose

This code of behaviour was written in consultation with children and young people. It aims to make sure everyone who participates in 8billionideas’s services knows what is expected of them and feels safe, respected and valued.

8billionideas must make sure that everyone taking part in our Services has seen, understood and agreed to follow the code of behaviour, and that they understand the consequences of inappropriate behaviour.

We expect people who take part in our services to display appropriate behaviour at all times. This includes behaviour that takes place outside our organisation and behaviour that takes place online.

Expectations for Campers

• Campers are expected to demonstrate socially acceptable behaviour at all times.
• Campers must adhere to 8billionideas' policies and procedures throughout the duration of the camp. More information can be found at Campers Code of Conduct
• Respect for others is paramount; campers must accept differences of race, gender, ability, age, and religion.
• Active participation in camp activities is required.
• Campers should interact positively with peers and staff members.
• Above all, campers are encouraged to have fun and enjoy their camp experience!

Expectations for Staff

• All facilitators are trained in Restorative Justice practises.
• Staff members are expected to serve as positive role models for campers.
• Recognition and praise for appropriate behaviour are encouraged.
• Consistency and fairness in enforcing camp rules and consequences are essential.
